Reference News Network July 3 report: According to the Israeli "Jerusalem Post" website on July 1, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that Israeli satellites have taken a large number of images of Iran before and during the recent Israel-Iran conflict.

A comprehensive space-based intelligence collection system covers millions of square kilometers of area through round-the-clock monitoring, generating more than 12,000 satellite images of Iranian territory.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has an area of about 1.6 million square kilometers, and Israel's operations were mainly focused on the Tehran area and western Iran, so it was necessary to take extensive photographs of certain parts of Iran.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense said this also means that Israeli satellites monitor hundreds of different targets every day.

In total, Israeli satellites monitor tens of thousands of square kilometers of Iranian territory every day.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated that with Israel's capabilities, quality, and quantity in satellite usage reaching new levels, this Jewish state has moved from merely receiving intermittent snapshots of specific locations in Iran for general analysis to being able to conduct real-time, continuous tactical and operational surveillance of many areas across Iran.

It has been proven that by adjusting the real-time attacks of the Israeli Air Force through real-time analysis of Iran's ballistic missile launch patterns and trends, satellites can effectively play a role in striking Iran.

In addition, satellites enable a higher level of immediate damage assessment reports, allowing them to quickly determine the effectiveness of strikes against Iranian targets.

Satellites are also used to determine the necessity of additional aerial strikes on a target. For complex and large targets, satellites are used to determine which part of such targets needs to be struck again to avoid hitting parts that have already been destroyed.

Regarding the surveillance quality of the new satellites, such as the "Horizon"-13 satellite launched in March 2023, they also have significant advantages in the conflict with Iran.

The "Horizon"-13 satellite was jointly developed by the Israeli Ministry of Defense and Israel Aerospace Industries, and was launched from an open area in central Israel using the "Comet"-2 satellite launcher.

At that time, Avi Berger, Director of the Space Division of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, said, "The launch was successful, everything went according to plan. The initial signs of the satellite are also very good. In the coming weeks, we will complete the technical tests and receive the first images."

In addition to the Israeli Ministry of Defense and Israel Aerospace Industries, the development and production of the satellite also involved collaboration with several other departments of the Israeli Defense Forces, including the 9900th Unit and the Air Force.

Berger said at the time, "The 'Horizon'-13 satellite is a radar-based observation satellite with the most advanced capabilities in its class in the world, and these capabilities were all developed by Israel." (Translated by Ma Dan)
