Foreign Media: Chinese Semiconductor Researcher Wang Danhao Dies in the U.S., China Confirms Suicide
The Chinese Consulate in the United States has confirmed that semiconductor researcher Wang Danhao (Wang Danhao) died by suicide after falling from the George G. Brown Building at the University of Michigan in the United States on the evening of March 19.
Wang Danhao, who had served as a postdoctoral researcher at the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan since 2022, was questioned by U.S. federal law enforcement agencies prior to his death. China expressed "deep sorrow" over the incident and criticized the U.S. for excessively broadening the concept of national security, subjecting Chinese students and scholars to unwarranted questioning and harassment. China calls on the U.S. to thoroughly investigate the case, provide responsible explanations to the family and to China, and cease discriminatory law enforcement practices.
The dean of the university's College of Engineering once described Wang Danhao as "a promising, talented young scholar with a bright future."
