The Afghan Foreign Minister thanks China for organizing talks with Pakistan in Urumqi
The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Press Office announced that on Tuesday, the Afghan Foreign Minister Amr Khan Muttaqi expressed gratitude to China for hosting peace talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan in Urumqi.
The statement said: "During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhao Xing to Afghanistan, both sides discussed bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and the ongoing negotiation process in Urumqi. The Afghan Foreign Minister positively assessed the bilateral relationship and cooperation, and extended thanks to his Chinese counterpart and their team for organizing and chairing the negotiations in Urumqi."
The Afghan Foreign Minister also highly praised the mediation efforts of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE.
The Foreign Ministry's Press Office noted: "Muttaqi added that the negotiations so far have been productive, and expressed hope that certain detailed issues would not hinder the progress of the talks."
China's ambassador shared the latest updates on the Urumqi negotiations, stating that China has been working to foster an atmosphere of mutual trust between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The ambassador emphasized: "Given the geopolitical situation in the region, it is expected that the process of building trust between Afghanistan and Pakistan will continue in good faith and without violence."
