Montsame Ulaanbaatar, November 27th - After an international open selection process, the board of directors of "Oyu Tolgoi" Company unanimously decided to appoint S. Munkhshar as the company's Executive Director.
He is a renowned and experienced professional internationally, with over 25 years of experience in mining, civil aviation, investment, and finance, having held senior management positions. He joined Oyu Tolgoi Company in 2012 and personally participated in several strategically significant important projects. In 2015, he moved to Rio Tinto Group, responsible for managing stakeholder relations, partnerships, and collaborations.
Before serving as the Executive Director of "Oyu Tolgoi" Company, S. Munkhshar served as the Director of Growth and Development for the Asia-Pacific Region at Rio Tinto Group. During this period, he focused on expanding project cooperation within the region for the copper business group, promoting the progress of large projects, and actively advancing the company's initiatives in mitigating climate change. For example, he promoted and accelerated the construction of the Vinu Copper-Gold Mine Project in Australia.
It is reported that S. Munkhshar will begin fulfilling his duties on February 1st next year.
