Japanese Media: Trump Proposes Renaming Atlantic or Pacific as 'Trump Ocean'
Agence Kyodo, October 11 report: U.S. President Trump said at a campaign rally in southern Tennessee on October 10, "I am considering dividing the Atlantic or Pacific into a 'Trump Ocean' or a 'North and South American Ocean.'"
After completing his second term, Trump issued an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the "American Gulf," and rechristening Lake Ontario—one of the Great Lakes bordering Canada—as the "American Lake."
In his speech, Trump stated: "Considering the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, we have both a gulf and a beautiful lake."
"When I retire, I should have the sea. I need a great ocean," he said, suggesting the renaming of either the Pacific or the Atlantic.
