Japanese Media: Trump Angered Over Not Receiving Nobel Peace Prize
According to a report by Japan's Mainichi Shimbun on October 10, U.S. President Trump posted on social media: "We have consistently worked to prevent war between North and South Korea, as well as between Japan and North Korea. Moreover, numerous regions under tension—including mainland China and Taiwan—have not been drawn into conflict, precisely because of the intervention by President Trump and the United States."
Trump, who has expressed strong desire for the Nobel Peace Prize, issued a lengthy statement following his omission from this year’s award.
He reiterated: "As president, and as the representative of the United States I have led, we should have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize."
Trump also shared a photograph of former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, stating: "She replaced a great American president in receiving the Nobel Peace Prize."
"I know nothing about this woman, nor does anyone else. In fact, as far as I am aware, apart from her known hostility toward Israel, she is virtually unknown."
He added: "I do not know what this woman has done."
Additionally, he claimed: "Presidents and prime ministers from countries that support me submitted recommendation letters on my behalf. I have prevented eight wars."
"Now, two conflicts—one between Iran and the West, and another between Russia and Ukraine—are on the verge of being resolved."
Regarding his exclusion, Trump voiced anger, declaring: "This is an indelible stain on Norway, one that will never be forgotten. The Nobel Peace Prize has been permanently tarnished by a small group of radical ideologues opposed to democracy and civilized values."
