Sputnik News, Tbilisi, July 24 — According to local media reports, Georgia experienced a sudden nationwide power outage, affecting nearly the entire country including the capital city of Tbilisi. As of now, the cause of the blackout remains unclear.
It is reported that this large-scale power failure has impacted most regions of the country, with Tbilisi also not spared. On social media platforms, users across Georgia have been reporting power outages from various parts of the nation.
Sputnik News reporters confirmed the blackout from residents in Batumi, Guria, Samegrelo, Racha, and Dusheti, located near the military highway in Georgia. On major streets in Tbilisi, traffic lights and street lamps have stopped working, causing chaos in urban traffic.
At present, relevant authorities have not provided an explanation for the widespread grid failure. Local media speculate that it may have been caused by a major accident at a power station. The Georgian Emergency Services department stated that they currently have no specific information on the matter.
