A federal judge has rejected the Department of Justice's request to obtain the list of 2020 election staff and personal contact information from Fulton County, Georgia, and vacated a federal grand jury subpoena issued in April this year. The subpoena had demanded the names and personal contact details of county employees and volunteer poll workers. Former President Trump has long claimed without evidence that widespread voter fraud occurred in Fulton County—a Democratic-leaning jurisdiction—that led to his loss in Georgia in 2020. Fulton County previously asked the court to invalidate the subpoena, arguing it was intended to target, harass, and punish political opponents as seen by the president, and was overly broad and lacking in reasonable need. In his ruling, U.S. District Judge William Ray wrote that given the low necessity of the information requested and the significant burden imposed by disclosing it, the subpoena was "unreasonable and must be vacated."
