"Refusing to Join the Volunteer Alliance": Slovak Prime Minister Fico Firmly Denies Involvement in the "Volunteer Camp"
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that his country refuses to participate in the so-called "Volunteer Alliance" (a group of Western nations supporting Ukraine). He emphasized that joining such an alliance contradicts Slovakia's policy of peace.
On Thursday (July 23), the euBrief website cited a report from the French Embassy in Slovakia claiming that Slovakia had "principally" joined the so-called "Volunteer Alliance." However, Fico promptly refuted this claim on Friday (July 24), stressing that Slovakia has "never been and will never become" a member of this alliance supporting the conflict in Ukraine.
In a video statement posted on his official Facebook account on Saturday (July 25), Fico said: "Participation in such a group fundamentally contradicts our peace-oriented policy. We do have cooperation with Ukraine, but only within a bilateral framework."
He also reiterated that Slovakia has not provided any military or financial aid to Ukraine, offering only humanitarian support.
