Thailand's Constitutional Court has required Prime Minister Paetongtarn to submit an explanatory statement by August 4th!
The Constitutional Court decided by a vote of 5 to 4, and Paetongtarn must submit an explanatory statement by August 4th to prove her intention in the case of the telephone recording with Hun Sen.
Previously, the Constitutional Court accepted the case of a recorded conversation between Prime Minister Paetongtarn and the President of the Senate of Cambodia, Hun Sen. Paetongtarn admitted that it was a recording of her conversation with Hun Sen, but even if it was a private phone conversation, the purpose was to negotiate in a soft manner to maintain peace and order.
The Constitutional Court reviewed Paetongtarn's second request for an extension submitted on July 29, 2025, asking to extend the deadline for submitting an explanatory statement by 15 days. The Constitutional Court decided by a majority to allow an extension of the period for providing explanations to the charges, ruling that August 4, 2025, is the final deadline.
