Thailand and Cambodia's military have reached an agreement to de-escalate border conflicts!

The Royal Thai Army issued a statement saying that representatives of the Thai and Cambodian armed forces met today and reached an agreement on an action plan to ease border tensions.

The plan includes an immediate ceasefire, prohibiting the use of force against civilians, prohibiting the deployment or redeployment of forces that could be misinterpreted, and promoting the exchange of wounded and deceased bodies. Both sides also agreed to establish a joint coordination committee at the local level to resolve urgent issues and prevent further incidents.

The 2nd Army Region of Thailand and the 4th Army Region of Cambodia held meetings at the Chong Chom crossing point in Surin Province, Thailand, at 10:00 local time; the 2nd Army Region of Thailand and the 5th Army Region of Cambodia also held talks simultaneously; the Thai border forces held a virtual meeting with representatives of the 3rd Army Region of Cambodia in Tambon and Chanthaburi provinces.

Representatives of the armed forces of both countries in all three border areas agreed to abide by the ceasefire agreement and suspend all troop movements, waiting for the border general committee meeting on August 4th.
