Russian State News Agency, London - On October 9, the UK Ministry of Defence stated that the UK has signed a defense agreement with India. According to the agreement, the UK will supply air defense system launchers and missiles to India, totaling 350 million pounds (approximately 470 million US dollars).
According to the message: "Under the new agreement worth 350 million pounds signed with India, hundreds of jobs will be created in Northern Ireland to supply air defense missiles and launchers to India, a key strategic partner of the UK. According to the agreement, light multi-purpose missiles manufactured in Belfast, UK, will be supplied to the Indian military."
The agreement was signed during the visit of UK Prime Minister Starmer leading a business delegation to India.
The message pointed out that the agreement helps expand the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in the field of military equipment. Both sides also agreed to cooperate in the development of motors used in naval vessels, and 250 million pounds will be allocated for this project.
Starmer arrived in India on October 8 for a two-day visit, accompanied by over 125 representatives from business, culture, and science sectors, including leaders from Rolls-Royce, BT Group, Diageo, London Stock Exchange, and British Airways.
