Foreign media: The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has partnered with the fintech company Razorpay to launch a pilot project that allows e-commerce payments through ChatGPT. The project uses India's local payment network, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), to enable payment functions, allowing users to complete shopping transactions directly on the ChatGPT platform.
This pilot aims to evaluate the service's potential for expansion in different areas and how to securely and conveniently use UPI to provide payment credentials for AI agents to complete transactions.
The project has also received support from OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, as well as Axis Bank and Airtel Payment Bank. Bigbasket, an e-commerce platform under the Tata Group, has become one of the first platforms to connect to this service.
