Global Semiconductor Market Shows Strong Growth in March

According to data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) in May 2026, cited by Japanese media EE TIMES JAPAN on May 14, global semiconductor sales in March 2026 saw a significant year-on-year increase of 79.2%, reaching $99.5 billion.

Regionally, Japan—previously experiencing negative growth for nine consecutive months (through February 2026)—recorded a 7.1% increase.

Global semiconductor sales rose by 11.5% month-over-month in March 2026. For the first quarter of 2026 (January–March), total sales amounted to $29.85 billion, representing a 25% increase compared to the previous quarter.

John Neuffer, President and CEO of the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association, stated: “We expect global semiconductor sales to reach $1 trillion in 2026. Sales in the first quarter far exceeded those of the prior quarter. Robust demand from the Asia-Pacific region, the Americas, and China have driven this growth. This underscores the broad and strong market demand for semiconductors and the wide array of technological products they power.”

The year-on-year global growth rate reached 108.5%. On a regional basis, the Asia-Pacific/other regions achieved notable two- to three-digit growth, reaching 108.5%; the Americas recorded 83.1%; China saw 74.8%; Europe grew by 46.5%; and Japan also posted a positive growth of 7.1%.

On a month-over-month basis, the Americas grew by 13.3%, China by 12.7%, Asia-Pacific and other regions by 9.8%, and Europe by 8.4%.
