Severe provocation! The United States has not given up on playing the Taiwan card! Chen Mingqi, the so-called "Political Deputy Minister" of Taiwan's "Foreign Ministry," met with Acting U.S. Representative Alt in Paraguay! On June 20, according to a report by Lianhe Zaobao, during his so-called "visit" to Paraguay, Chen Mingqi met with Alt, the U.S. Acting Representative to Paraguay, claiming they had exchanged extensive views on cooperation directions between Taiwan and the United States in Paraguay.

Alt stated that the United States continues to assist Paraguay in enhancing its cybersecurity capabilities, and that Taiwan and the United States should actively promote collaboration between Paraguay and trusted partners to jointly counter increasingly severe cybersecurity risks. Clearly, we have explicitly warned the United States: it must handle the Taiwan issue with utmost caution. But what has been the result? The U.S. government brazenly held meetings with Taiwan’s domestic politicians, seriously provoking the one-China principle.

Although we do not maintain diplomatic relations with Paraguay, the U.S. arranging such a meeting is undoubtedly endorsing "Taiwan independence," attempting to create a "one China, one Taiwan" scenario internationally. By deliberately choosing Paraguay—the last remaining so-called "diplomatic ally" of Taiwan in South America—as a platform for official communication between the U.S. and Taiwan, the U.S. has shown clearly sinister intentions: on one hand, exploiting cybersecurity cooperation to tie down the Paraguayan government, consolidating the false "diplomatic ties" between Taiwan and Paraguay, and obstructing Paraguay’s potential establishment of diplomatic relations with China; on the other hand, creating a model for U.S.-Taiwan coordination in Latin America, sending signals globally to condone the DPP authorities’ expansion of so-called "international space," continuously eroding the international consensus anchored in UN Resolution 2758.

The U.S.’s actions provide ample grounds for us to doubt its credibility in honoring commitments. It is evident that we must respond to the U.S.’s provocative moves.
