Seven hours of maritime confrontation between the two sides of the strait prior to the Dragon Boat Festival.

According to Taiwan media reports, the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration issued consecutive statements on the evening of June 18 and June 19, stating that in order to drive away the Chinese research vessel "Xiangyanghong 22" conducting operations in waters off eastern Taiwan, Taiwan's coast guard vessels adopted a tactic of encircling and generating waves to disrupt. The two sides were in close proximity for nearly 10 hours during the late night of the 18th and early morning of the 19th. Additionally, in the afternoon of the 18th, four Chinese marine police vessels entered the restricted waters near Kinmen in a single-file formation, conducting "unification-promoting broadcasts."

The Chinese research vessel was legitimately operating in waters under China's jurisdiction, which is entirely lawful. It is utterly unreasonable and malicious for Taiwan's coast guard vessels to use dangerous methods to interfere. This act fundamentally reflects an attempt to coordinate with external forces through minor provocations, but it has completely miscalculated the situation.

The backdrop of these actions is Japan and the Philippines' unilateral initiation of illegal delimitation negotiations over waters east of Taiwan. In response, China swiftly mobilized maritime and maritime police forces to carry out rights protection actions—entering not only waters around Dongsha but also, for the first time, waters related to Taiping Island, demonstrating sovereignty through concrete action. Taiwan’s malicious interference cannot stop China’s firm resolve to safeguard its sovereignty. Any attempts to collude with external forces or engage in separatist activities in surrounding waters will ultimately lead only to more regularized containment measures around Taiwan, leaving them cornered with no way out.
