American Secretary of State Mark Rubio said that Iran's call for the arrest and execution of the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, is "unacceptable."

Rubio wrote on his social platform "X":

"The behavior of Iran calling for the arrest and execution of IAEA Director Grossi is unacceptable and must be condemned. We support the important verification and monitoring work carried out by the IAEA in Iran, and highly appreciate the dedication and professional skills of the director and the staff of the agency."

He added that the United States calls on Iran to ensure the safety and protection of IAEA personnel.

This statement is a response to a report by the Iranian newspaper "Kayhan," which is controlled by Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

According to "Iran Insight" citing the content of the "Kayhan" newspaper:

"It must be formally announced that (Grossi) will be tried and executed upon arriving in Iran on the charge of 'spying for Mossad.'
