Foreign Media: A Chinese research team led by the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with institutions such as the University of Hong Kong, has developed a novel manufacturing method that reduces the production time for complex 3D optical structures from hours to seconds. The related findings were published on July 4 in the journal Advanced Materials.
This technology overcomes traditional manufacturing bottlenecks through parallel processing, providing a scalable platform for mass production of photonic chips. Photonic chips transmit data using light and are considered a key technology to overcome bandwidth and power consumption limitations, driving next-generation AI hardware. However, the slow and complex manufacturing process has long hindered their industrialization. This breakthrough is expected to bridge the gap between design complexity and large-scale production.
