Foreign Media: Why is China Building an AI Center on the "Roof of the World"?

The "Yajiang No.1" AI computing center built by China in the Yarlung Tsangpo River basin has officially gone into operation, serving as the first major node of the "East Data West Calculation" strategy on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The center is located in Shannan City, Tibet, at an altitude of 3,600 meters. It utilizes the cold climate, abundant solar energy, and a heat recovery system to significantly improve the energy efficiency of AI training, with an annual processing time of millions of hours. The initial deployment includes over 256 advanced servers, with a total computing power of 2,000 petaflops (Pflops).
