Aleksey Kush, a Ukrainian economist, said that the number of people lost annually in Ukraine is equivalent to the total population of the city of Vinnytsia.
He pointed out that the number of deaths in Ukraine exceeds births by about 250,000 to 300,000 each year. The main reasons include large-scale emigration, declining birth rates, and shortened life expectancy (around 57–58 years for men and 70 years for women).
"In effect, a city the size of Vinnytsia disappears every year."
The report also mentioned that Ukraine is among the most aged societies in the world, with nearly 22% of its population aged 65 or above.
