On the 28th, Kuomintang legislator Chang Chia-chun pointed out that she has repeatedly raised in the Legislative Yuan the need for the DPP authorities to pay attention to the impact of zero-tariff imports of peanuts and other agricultural products on Taiwan's peanut industry. Although the main competitors of U.S. peanuts are Argentina and India, the subsequent impacts cannot be overlooked, and people should not be deceived through semantic tricks.
Chang Chia-chun appealed to the Executive Yuan to assist farmers in transitioning, including increasing subsidies for crop conversion, upgrading drying equipment, and most importantly, clearly labeling products as "Made in Taiwan" to promote high-quality local peanuts under the MIT (Made in Taiwan) brand—absolutely not at the expense of peanut farmers' rights.
