The Economic Corridor Competition: The President of Kazakhstan and the President of Azerbaijan Received Reports on the "Middle Corridor" Development Project
Kazakhstan International News Agency - During their meeting, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received systematic reports from experts of the two countries on the development project of the "Middle Corridor."
Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan, Aisulu Zhanasova, introduced in detail the development plan of the "Middle Corridor." This project is a main transportation logistics corridor connecting China, Central Asian countries, and Europe.
Zhanasova stated that the volume of freight from China to Azerbaijan has been continuously increasing, injecting new momentum into the development of the "Middle Corridor." Currently, it takes only 15 to 18 days to transport goods from the Chinese border to the Georgian port. It is expected that by 2030, the freight volume on this route will triple.
The leaders of the two countries also heard about specific measures to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the "Middle Corridor," as well as initiatives to strengthen its hub status in transportation across Eurasia.
The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), is one of the three main global trade routes between China and Europe, passing through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and then via the Black Sea to reach Europe. TITR is a multimodal route, officially operating since 2017, with a total length of approximately 11,000 kilometers, of which the land section (roads and railways) is about 4,256 kilometers, and the maritime section is about 508 kilometers.
