China's FC-1B Block 3 fighter jets delivered to Azerbaijan! The end of Armenia's Su-30SM is coming
On October 19, it was reported in Azerbaijan that a mobile phone photo (Figure 1) showed the first batch of FC-1B Block 3 fighter jets ordered by the Azerbaijani military had been delivered. Three aircraft were photographed, two of which were single-seat FC-1B Block 3 fighter jets, and one was a dual-seat FC-1B trainer attack aircraft.
According to previous information released by Pakistan, Azerbaijan has ordered a total of 12 FC-1B fighter jets, which is a squadron, including 8 single-seat FC-1B Block 3 and the remaining 4 dual-seat FC-1B.
Azerbaijan had previously sent maintenance personnel to Pakistan for training (Figure 2), and the Pakistani Air Force had also flown one of its own FC-1B Block 3 fighter jets to Azerbaijan for the president to observe (Figures 3 and 4), so this deal had already been confirmed long ago.
Since the FC-1B Block 3 is equipped with an active phased array radar and can use the PL-15E long-range air-to-air missile, even though it is a single-engine lightweight fighter jet, its beyond visual range combat capability can still suppress Armenia's Su-30SM heavy fighter jets. The best medium-range missile that the latter can obtain is Russia's R-77, but the performance of this missile is far inferior to that of the PL-15E.
