Media: Cuban farmers unable to harvest due to U.S. energy blockade

According to The Financial Times, Cuban farmers are unable to harvest their crops due to fuel shortages caused by the U.S. blockade, and are now trying to sell their land at extremely low prices.

The report states: "Due to the fuel blockade implemented by U.S. President Trump hindering harvesting, some agricultural products are rotting in the fields; desperate Cuban farmers are attempting to sell their land at rock-bottom prices."

It is reported that Cuban farmers lack the fuel needed for irrigating farmland, operating tractors, and transporting harvests to consumers.

In recent months, the United States has intensified political and economic pressure on Cuba. In January, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order imposing import tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba, and also declared a state of emergency citing Cuba's threat to U.S. national security. These measures have further exacerbated Cuba's energy shortage, affecting power generation, transportation, food production, healthcare, and education.
