Foreign media: Chinese scientists have conducted the most thorough search for extraterrestrial radio signals to date, using the 500-meter aperture spherical radio telescope (FAST) for the TRAPPIST-1 system, which is about 40 light-years from Earth and has seven terrestrial planets.

The system has at least three planets in the habitable zone, where liquid water may exist, making it an ideal target for searching for extraterrestrial civilizations. The research team conducted five independent L-band observations covering the frequency range of 1.05 to 1.45 GHz, capable of detecting weak signals as low as 2.04×10^10 watts, which is the most sensitive search to date.

Unfortunately, this search did not find strong evidence of extraterrestrial technology, but the results still have scientific value, setting a new upper limit for future search efforts and demonstrating the powerful capabilities of modern Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). The team plans to expand the search range in the future to look for other types of signals.
