[Russian Foreign Ministry releases press release on Russian-American Istanbul talks]

On April 11, the Russian Foreign Ministry released a press release about the Russian-American negotiations in Istanbul through its Telegram channel:

"On April 10, a round of expert consultations between Russia and the United States was held in Istanbul with the aim of normalizing the operation of the two countries' diplomatic missions abroad and eliminating 'stimulating factors' accumulated on the bilateral 'agenda.'

The Russian delegation led by Alexander Darchiev, the Russian Ambassador to Washington (A.N. Darchiev), and the American delegation led by Sonata Coulter, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State (S. Coulter), exchanged notes, confirming agreements on ensuring smooth operations for Russian-American diplomatic mission banks and financial services as well as channels for Russia's payment of contributions to the UN and other international organizations.

In response to Russia's proposal regarding the return of six diplomatic properties belonging to the Russian Federation and owned by Russia, which were seized by U.S. authorities, both sides agreed to develop a 'roadmap.' Russian Ambassador Alexander Darchiev particularly emphasized the importance of taking urgent practical measures in this regard, including allowing immediate access for Russian representatives to inspect these properties and assess the damage caused.

Both sides continued their work on simplifying visa procedures and the movement regime of diplomatic mission staff in the host country. The Russian Ambassador called for more active efforts to resolve major issues that could enhance mutual trust and expand business and social ties, such as restoring direct flights.

After the consultations ended, both parties decided to quickly study the various proposals put forward. The goal is to reach mutually acceptable solutions before the next round of consultations, the specific time of which is being coordinated."
