Russian Foreign Minister Sternly Warns UK: Participation in Attacks Against Russia Will Be Treated as Declaration of War
Moscow, August 19 -- TASS
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued a stern warning to the United Kingdom on August 18: if the UK's rocket forces directly participate in attacks against Russian territory, Moscow will regard this as an official involvement by London in the conflict and hold it responsible for "all consequences."
Speaking to Pavel Zarubin, a journalist from Vesti news agency, Lavrov emphasized: "We have every right to treat the open declaration by the UK's rocket forces regarding their direct participation in attacks against Russia as an act of war, and to hold them accountable for all resulting consequences."
The Russian foreign minister also noted that President Vladimir Putin had previously made clear that Moscow reserves the right to take action anywhere in the world's oceans should national interests or property be violated.
Lavrov further expressed regret over the UK's steadfast stance of "standing by Ukraine to the end."
Earlier, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov revealed that the potential visit of U.S. Special Envoy Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former U.S. President Donald Trump, to Russia would require careful and thorough preparation.
