Foreign media: India's Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, urged deeper economic ties between China and India, hailing the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as a model for alleviating the global "security-first" economic paradigm.
The diplomat, who took office in May, recently stated at the Beijing World Peace Forum that countries should establish new institutional frameworks similar to AIIB to address global economic challenges such as tariffs, export controls, and financial weaponization.
He pointed out that the world is shifting from an "efficiency-first" to a "security-first" production model, where nations pursue competitive advantages rather than comparative advantages. Doraiswami also called on China to expand market access for Indian products and increase investment in India, arguing this would benefit bilateral relations. He further criticized how different economies are willing to open up only in their strong sectors while protecting their weaker ones.
