Foreign Media: Indian government officials stated on July 7 that India will supply BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and Astra air-to-air missiles to Indonesia, with the transaction amounting to approximately $630 million, expected to be signed during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Jakarta.
Indonesia will become the third country after Vietnam and the Philippines to purchase BrahMos missiles. Developed jointly by India and Russia, the BrahMos missile is one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world and can be launched from land, sea, and air. The Astra missile can be integrated into Indonesia’s Russian-made Su-30 fighter jets.
This military sale marks a significant expansion of India’s defense exports and will deepen strategic ties with Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
