Foreign Media: China's excavator exports surged 33% in the first half of the year, with the industry accelerating its transition toward electrification.
According to data from the China Construction Machinery Industrial Association, a total of 14,547 excavators were exported by June 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 36%; cumulative exports for the first half of the year reached 73,295 units, up 33.5% year-on-year, including 135 electric excavators. Chinese brands such as Sany Heavy Equipment, Zoomlion, and XCMG are continuously eroding market share previously dominated by international giants like Hitachi, Komatsu, and Caterpillar, with domestic and overseas shipments now roughly balanced at a 50-50 split.
The association believes that trends toward electrification and intelligence will further help Chinese enterprises capture overseas market share, much like how Chinese automakers have surpassed their Japanese and German counterparts; meanwhile, the prolonged downturn in China's real estate sector is also pushing manufacturers to shift focus toward international markets.
