Korean Media: 23 Billion Dollars, India's iPhone Export Volume Sets a New Record!

On February 7, the Korean media outlet "NEWSPIM" published an article stating that in the previous year, Apple's iPhone exports produced in India exceeded 200 billion rupees. This is the first time since Apple began producing iPhones in India in 2021 that the export volume has surpassed 200 billion rupees.

According to data provided by Apple's suppliers to the Indian central and state governments, from January to December 2025, Apple's iPhone exports in India reached 23 billion US dollars, an increase of about 85% compared to the previous year.

Apple has been working to expand iPhone exports under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) program framework implemented in India, which will continue until 2024.

Apple entered the Indian market through Wistron and Foxconn and utilized the PLI program implemented in 2020. Due to the impact of the pandemic, Apple postponed its production plan in India by about one year and began producing iPhones for export in 2021.

Apple began integrating its Indian company into its supply chain in 2023. Although this was a difficult decision, it significantly benefited the Indian ecosystem, especially small and medium enterprises, through technology transfer and introduction.

In 2023, Tata Group acquired the iPhone factory of Wistron in Karnataka, becoming the first company to join Apple's ecosystem. Subsequently, Tata also acquired a large stake in the iPhone factory of Pegatron in Tamil Nadu.

Since 2024, many Indian companies, especially small and medium enterprises, have joined Apple's supply chain as suppliers of components and parts. These suppliers are spread across eight Indian states.

Several of Apple's partners have participated in the Electronic Components Manufacturing Support Program (ECMS) project. The ECMS project is expected to not only promote India's smartphone exports but also promote component exports.

In India's exported goods, smartphones have risen from the 167th position in 2015 to the top position now.
