Russian media marvels: China's green power can supply three Russias!
On August 6, Russian newspapers published an article.
In the first six months of China, the electricity generated by wind and solar power stations is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of Russia for one and a half years.
In the first half of 2025, China's renewable energy produced 179.93 billion kilowatt-hours.
The China National Energy Administration released these data.
They pointed out that the proportion of green power from new power plants is 60%, while the proportion from all existing power plants is 40%.
The total capacity of green power generation is 2.16 trillion watts.
In China, green power generation includes wind, solar, and hydropower stations.
It also includes power generation from biomass energy.
The largest growth comes from solar power stations.
China's current green power production is three times the total electricity consumption of Russia.
Fedor Opatch, chairman of the Unified Power System Operator of Russia, stated that Russia's electricity demand in 2024 was 119.17 billion kilowatt-hours.
Alexey Grivach, vice director of the National Energy Security Fund, pointed out that the increase in China's green power generation does not threaten Russia's gas supply to China and new projects.
