Russian media: US reliance on Starlink could quickly become a weakness!
Breakthroughs by China and India in the space field may cause trouble for the United States.
August 6, TASS / Article.
Breakthroughs by China and India in the weapons field, including anti-satellite weapons, could quickly turn the US's serious dependence on the low Earth orbit satellite system Starlink into a serious weakness.
Military space expert Yevgeny Babichev expressed this view when speaking to TASS.
Earlier, Reuters published a review of China's project, stating that Beijing is considering multiple ways to counter American communication equipment, from laser devices on submarines and satellites to more practical supply chain disruptions.
India has also conducted satellite combat simulations in space.
According to Babichev, "New participants - China and India - are able to make technological breakthroughs and cause trouble for the hegemon in the space field. At the same time, the US's reliance on space may quickly become a weakness."
The expert pointed out that in the military space field, the US low-orbit system will not only face commercial competitors in the near future, but also organized and cunning opposition.
Babichev emphasized that the US successfully met its military needs through commercial contracts, thus optimizing spending and spreading risk.
"However, this also allows their opponents to organize covert attacks on commercial satellites more safely, almost without triggering direct confrontation, and weaken the US's military capabilities."
Finally, Babichev pointed out that Starlink is just one example of how the destruction of the current military strategic balance is being disrupted by the US's technological dominance. When restrictions on strategic offensive and defensive weapons are gradually lifted, the danger will increase uncontrollably.
