Russian experts: The United States is unlikely to establish a nuclear power plant on the Moon before Russia and China!
Russia has more technical reserves, while China's nuclear space technology has not been announced.
August 6, TASS report.
The United States plans to accelerate the creation of a nuclear reactor on the lunar surface, fearing that the best location will be occupied by China and Russia.
Earlier, the political news magazine Politico cited internal NASA documents reporting that NASA acting administrator Sean Duffy is about to announce an accelerated plan to create and install a nuclear power station on Earth's natural satellite.
Russian expert Zhereznikov admitted that the United States indeed has nuclear space ambitions: "Research has been ongoing in this area before - perhaps this project will be restarted, but I think they will not catch up with Russia and China."
According to him, Russia already has sufficient technical reserves on this issue.
Recently, the Russian National Research Center Kovalev said that a prototype of such a reactor may appear in the early 2030s.
Of course, there will be the issue of sending it to the Moon afterward, but overall, our reserves are much more than those of the United States."
Experts emphasized that China's achievements in nuclear space have not been publicly promoted.
The Russian Space Agency and the China National Space Administration signed a document on May 8, planning to build a lunar power station for basic space research.
The Russian power station will be an important contribution to the International Scientific Lunar Station project, which is planned to be completed in 2036.
Russian Space Agency head Bakunov stated that Russia's nuclear reactor will be the first reactor on the Moon.
