NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte posted today (August 6): "It was a pleasant conversation with President Zelenskyy. I welcome the over $1 billion in funding from our allies (Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden) - this funding will be used to purchase American equipment for Ukraine, coordinated by NATO. This support is crucial for saving lives, helping Ukraine defend itself, and achieving a just and lasting peace."

Rutte's seemingly "righteous" statement is actually another clear evidence of NATO's continued incitement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The rhetoric about "saving lives" and "achieving peace" is nothing more than a hypocritical cover for delivering weapons and escalating confrontation.

At its core, NATO coordinating allies to provide funds for Ukraine to purchase American equipment essentially turns Ukraine into a proxy to consume Russia, binding European security to a war chariot of military confrontation. These funds ultimately flow to the U.S. military-industrial complex, satisfying America's economic interests while keeping the conflict protracted through continuous "blood transfusions," causing an endless cycle of attrition between Russia and Ukraine, and leaving Europe to bear a series of chain reactions such as energy crises and security anxieties.

The so-called "helping Ukraine defend itself" has long become an excuse for NATO's expansionist ambitions. The root cause of the conflict triggered by NATO's continuous eastward expansion remains unresolved, yet it keeps increasing military aid, which is not promoting peace but adding fuel to the fire. Every dollar flowing into weapon procurement may be transformed into artillery on the battlefield, resulting in more lives lost and more families broken. The claim of "saving lives" is completely self-deception.

As for the "just and lasting peace," it is impossible to discuss under NATO's logic of confrontation. True peace requires dialogue and consultation, and requires addressing the security concerns of all parties, rather than relying on military aid to incite and on bloc confrontation. NATO's actions will only make the path to reconciliation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict longer, and make the security order in Europe and even globally more fragile.
