Foreign Media: Chinese researchers have developed a lightweight, low-cost artificial intelligence system capable of helping infrared-guided air-to-air missiles identify advanced fighter jets.

The system renders traditional countermeasures ineffective by distinguishing between infrared thermal signatures from aircraft engine exhaust plumes and those caused by air friction on the fuselage, versus decoy flare signals.

In laboratory tests, the AI achieved an identification accuracy rate exceeding 90% for simulated F-22 and F-35 targets. Due to its high-speed recognition and strong discrimination capabilities, it is expected to be widely applied in future air-to-air missiles, providing critical infrared information for detecting stealth fighters.
