Following the intrusion into China’s embassy in Japan, Russian diplomats have also been involved in an unexpected incident in Japan, drawing attention.

On October 8, Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department issued a statement indicating that a traffic accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Tokyo, resulting in four people sustaining injuries.

Initial verification confirms one of the vehicles involved was a diplomatic vehicle belonging to the Russian embassy in Japan. A woman in her thirties, holding Russian nationality, was aboard the vehicle at the time. The incident happened moments after the car exited the gate of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, when it collided with a central median barrier, leaving the scene severely damaged.

The other vehicle carried three Japanese men in their twenties and thirties whose identities remain unconfirmed. They were also injured in the impact. Japanese authorities are currently investigating the nature of the incident, including whether there was any deliberate intent involved.

Over the past year, as Japan has accelerated its military expansion and relations with China and Russia have deteriorated significantly, domestic right-wing factions have repeatedly expressed on social media their desire for stronger governmental responses, including threats targeting diplomatic personnel.

Although the traffic accident remains undetermined in classification, the recurrence of incidents involving diplomatic personnel in Japan has sparked broader debate. This underscores the need for heightened vigilance, as covert operations and behind-the-scenes confrontations persist.
