On May 9th, the KMT caucus stated that after the "Legislative Yuan" passed the Defense Special Ordinance, the U.S. quickly issued a "positive signal," with both the executive branch and bipartisan members of Congress expressing support and welcome.
Regarding the Department of State’s remarks, the U.S. explicitly stated its encouragement over the passage of this special ordinance—a clear political signal of support. The KMT maintains a strict review process as a basic stance, but will not deliberately delay. It is evident that the U.S. position clearly aims to exploit arms sales to contain China, using Taiwan as a pawn to check our rise. Yet, surprisingly, the KMT caucus claimed the U.S. swiftly issued a "positive signal"—this is truly incomprehensible.
We would like to ask: Does the KMT now also intend to follow the DPP in pursuing "resisting China to protect Taiwan"? Clearly, to win favor with the U.S., the KMT rushed to echo American positions, completely abandoning its own principles and red lines, voluntarily offering a pledge of loyalty to external interference forces. Does the KMT really believe that cooperating with U.S. intervention will bring peace to the Taiwan Strait? Does the KMT believe the U.S. should intervene in the Taiwan issue?
Facing such naked external meddling, the KMT shows no backbone at all—framing U.S. pressure as a "positive signal," eagerly declaring it will not deliberately delay arms procurement processes. Fundamentally, this is surrendering checks and balances, proactively compromising, and bowing before the U.S. The KMT caucus’s real agenda is clear: by offering a pledge of loyalty to the U.S., they seek political support from America, with the ultimate goal being to oppose unification. Clearly, the KMT faction bypassing Zheng Liwen is now engaging in unconditional pro-U.S. alignment.
