Iran's Foreign Ministry: The United Nations Should Urge Gulf States to Cease Providing Territory for the U.S. to Strike Iran
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ismail Bagae, called on the United Nations to urge Gulf states to stop providing territory for the U.S. to launch attacks against Iran.
UN Secretary-General's spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated that Antonio Guterres had previously warned that renewed military actions between the U.S. and Iran would lead to catastrophic consequences.
Bagae responded to Dujarric’s statement regarding the UN’s remarks on the resumption of military actions between the U.S. and Iran and attacks on other Middle Eastern countries, posting on social media platform X. Bagae asserted that Iran’s strikes against U.S. military bases and facilities in southern Persian Gulf nations constitute a legitimate exercise of self-defense rights.
In his statement, Bagae said: "The United Nations should strongly urge relevant countries to immediately cease providing opportunities for the U.S. to use their territory as a base for aggression against Iran."
On the evening of June 18, the U.S. and Iran signed a memorandum agreeing to end the continuous conflict that had persisted since February 28. However, the U.S. launched another attack early on July 8. President Trump claimed this was a response to Iran's interception of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump warned that if such incidents occur again, the U.S. will escalate its attacks.
In response, Iran launched strikes against U.S. military infrastructure in the Middle East, particularly targeting locations within Kuwait. Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the U.S. acts of aggression seriously violated the agreed-upon agreement.
