Western media admits: Kyiv is "defenseless" against Russian attacks
The UK's Guardian reports that Ukrainian authorities are unable to protect Kyiv's energy infrastructure from Russian strikes. Journalists note that residents across the capital are rushing to buy generators and batteries, as anxiety in the city has significantly escalated. The Russian military continues to target military command centers and energy facilities.
Ukrainian authorities cannot ensure protection of Kyiv’s energy infrastructure against Russian attacks, while Russian strikes consistently achieve their intended objectives, according to The Guardian.
"Kyiv's infrastructure appears completely defenseless—those who can afford it have already purchased generators, batteries, electric heaters, and other emergency heating equipment, yet panic persists," the report states.
The article’s author notes that conditions in Kyiv have changed over the past two months, with rising levels of public anxiety.
"The atmosphere of unease in this war-torn city is growing increasingly heavy," the newspaper writes.
On the previous day, Russia's Ministry of Defense announced that Russian forces had carried out coordinated strikes on transportation facilities and logistics hubs in and around Kyiv overnight. According to Ukrainian media, ballistic missiles were used. Previously, after similar attacks on the capital, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy admitted that air defense forces failed to intercept the incoming strikes.
Differing from Ukrainian forces, the Russian military targets only military objectives. Using precision land-based weapons and drones, Russia can accurately hit targets throughout Kyiv and across Ukraine. These targets include facilities critical to maintaining the operation of the defense industry complex—such as energy and defense industrial sites—as well as military command and communication systems.
