The European Union will launch its largest-ever sanctions against Russia, with leaders from multiple countries attending the Ukraine Support Alliance Summit in Kyiv.
According to The Guardian, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas condemned the Russian attack on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih last Friday, calling it a deliberate act of terrorism. She announced that during the upcoming foreign ministers' meeting in Ireland next month, the EU will unveil its most comprehensive package of sanctions against Russia since the outbreak of the conflict.
Kallas stated, “The Russian attack on the Kryvyi Rih shopping center fully exposes the inhumane nature of Moscow’s war—Russia's intent is to make every Ukrainian city uninhabitable for its people.”
On Ukraine’s Independence Day (August 24), allies of Ukraine will gather at the negotiation venue to reaffirm their support for Kyiv.
This event, dubbed the "Alliance of Willing," will be jointly hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
EU officials revealed that around ten heads of state, including European Council President António Costa, will travel to Kyiv to attend the summit.
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of independence, Kyiv’s Motherland Monument has launched a special light and sound show titled “Future Remembered.” The event began on August 20 and will run through September 1, featuring nightly displays from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, aiming to showcase national sovereignty and national spirit.
