The Iranian Foreign Ministry said it has received a response from the United States regarding Iran's new proposal to end the war
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated on Sunday, May 3, that it has received a response from the United States regarding Iran's new proposal aimed at ending the war.
According to state media reports on Sunday, the United States has conveyed its response to Iran’s 14-point proposal through mediator Pakistan, and Tehran is currently reviewing the U.S. reply. The U.S. side has not yet confirmed this report.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on national television that Iran’s “14-point proposal” does not include nuclear issues. The proposal “focuses solely on ending the war,” but he provided no further details.
According to Iranian media reports, Iran’s latest proposal calls for resolving differences between the two countries and ending the war within 30 days, rather than extending the ceasefire.
As reported by semi-official media outlets closely linked to Iran’s security institutions—Nour News and Tasnim News Agency—the Iranian 14-point plan is a response to the U.S. 9-point proposal. The plan also calls for the United States to lift sanctions against Iran, end maritime blockades of Iranian ports, withdraw forces from the region, and cease all hostile actions—including Israel’s military operations in Lebanon.
However, Iran did not mention its nuclear program or uranium enrichment issues, which remain at the core of U.S.-Iran tensions. U.S. President Trump has repeatedly stated that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, journalist Gutman from Israeli media Kan News said on social media platform X on Sunday that President Trump told him in a brief phone conversation that Iran’s new proposal was unacceptable.
Gutman quoted Trump as saying, “I can’t accept it. I’ve looked into it thoroughly—I’ve reviewed every detail—and it’s unacceptable.”
Before reviewing Iran’s new proposal, Trump had already cautiously indicated he would not accept it. On Saturday evening, he posted on the social media platform Truth Social: “I will soon review the proposal Iran just sent us, but I believe this one won’t be accepted because Iran has not paid sufficient price for the crimes it has committed against humanity and the world over the past 47 years.”
