Euractiv reports, citing an anonymous NATO diplomat, that the U.S. government's announcement of a review of its military deployments has triggered feelings of concern, frustration, and helplessness among NATO countries.
Previously, U.S. Secretary of War Hegseth stated that the Pentagon would reassess U.S. military deployments in Europe, with some American allies potentially "failing" the evaluation.
The diplomat described the sentiment among NATO representatives as a mixture of "concern, frustration, and acceptance."
Another source noted that officials from certain countries are dissatisfied with the fact that, after the review concludes, U.S. contributions to NATO will be tied to their allies' defense spending commitments.

Polish Prime Minister Tusk told reporters that no final decision has yet been made regarding the establishment of a permanent U.S. military base in Poland.
Earlier on June 18, Poland’s Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz told journalists that the United States had responded positively to Poland’s proposal to deploy a permanent U.S. military base within its territory.
Tusk said: "I am an optimist, but I did not expect such a swift and positive response regarding our decision to establish a permanent base in Poland."
Tusk also emphasized that this does not constitute a final decision.

Russian military expert and air defense historian Yury Knutov told Sputnik News that Russia’s air defense systems have performed exceptionally well.
In the most recent Ukrainian attack, Russian air defenses destroyed approximately 992 drones, four long-range cruise missiles, and ten aerial bombs.
In contrast, the U.S. air defense system proved severely inadequate, failing to prevent Iran from destroying around 15 U.S. military bases and rendering five U.S. facilities in the Persian Gulf non-operational.
Knutov believes Ukraine is attempting to force Russia into surrender by intimidating Russian civilians. He explained: "This is a typical tactic of international terrorists: using civilian populations as hostages to achieve political objectives."
