Korean Media: Xiaomi Cars Rise, Expected to Surpass Tesla in the Chinese Market Next Year!
On September 11, the South Korean media outlet "Choiseconomy" published an article stating that Lei Jun, Chairman of Xiaomi Group, recently announced on social media, "Xiaomi cars delivered more than 30,000 units in July for the first time." This is the first time that Xiaomi's monthly delivery volume has exceeded 30,000 units.
Xiaomi cars delivered 25,000 units in June and 28,000 units in May. Within just 15 months of its launch, Xiaomi cars have cumulatively delivered over 300,000 units.
Xiaomi's second electric vehicle, YU7, began nationwide deliveries in July, and its popularity even surpassed its first model SU7. Within 18 hours of its launch, the reservation volume had already exceeded 240,000 units.
Analysts attribute the growth in Xiaomi's car delivery volume to a significant increase in production capacity. China Guoxin Securities stated, "Xiaomi's second factory in Beijing is about to start production and plans to further expand its production capacity. Xiaomi's sales this year are expected to be between 400,000 and 500,000 units, and it is expected to exceed 800,000 units by 2026."
Previously, Chairman Lei Jun shared an article titled "Answers to Netizens' Questions About Xiaomi Cars," and said, "We will do our best to expand production capacity."
Xiaomi recently successfully bid for an industrial land plot located in Yizhuang New City, Beijing, at a price of 635 million yuan (RMB). The land area is 485,100 square meters. The plot is near the currently nearly completed Xiaomi second automobile factory and may be used for future expansion of the automobile factory.
Xiaomi cars are also continuously expanding their sales channels. In July, the company opened 18 new stores in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, and Heze City, Shandong Province. Xiaomi cars currently operate 352 stores in 97 cities across the country and plan to open another 18 stores in August, including a new store in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia.
Bloomberg Economics analysis states, "By 2026, Xiaomi's electric vehicles may surpass Tesla in the Chinese market, with Xiaomi's electric vehicle shipments reaching 782,000 units. If this goal is achieved, the automotive business will account for 30% of Xiaomi's total revenue."
