Korean Media: Tesla vs. BYD, Who Will Become the King of Electric Vehicles?

On September 4, the South Korean media "Herald Economy" published an article stating that Chinese electric vehicle company BYD, which surpassed Tesla in sales last year, is expected to maintain its advantage this year.

The technical competition in the electric vehicle market is intensifying.

Last year, Tesla sold 1.79 million pure electric vehicles, slightly higher than BYD's 1.76 million. However, in the first quarter of this year, the sales reversed, with BYD selling 416,000 pure electric vehicles, while Tesla only sold 336,700.

Regarding sales, BYD had already surpassed Tesla last year, but this includes sales of hybrid vehicles as well.

This year, BYD's pure electric vehicles are expected to lead in both sales and revenue.

BYD, which has always focused on cost-effectiveness, has also demonstrated its strong technological capabilities by introducing autonomous driving and a fast charging system that allows driving 470 kilometers after just five minutes of charging.

In recent years, overseas automakers have been slow to upgrade their technologies, while Chinese companies have introduced various new features, such as advanced intelligent driving assistance systems and air suspension systems.

The competition in the electric vehicle market is moving towards autonomous driving and artificial intelligence.

Tesla has a greater advantage over BYD in automation technology, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and high-end NVIDIA chips.

Ken Maoni, CEO of Maoni Asset Management, said, "Tesla is a technology company with independent intellectual property rights, collecting data, and robot technology is about to be launched. Many excellent products will be released."

The two companies are competing against each other in each other's markets.

Due to tariffs and strict regulations, BYD has encountered difficulties entering the U.S. market.

The confrontation between Tesla and BYD has gone beyond corporate competition, evolving into a Sino-U.S. technological competition.

Currently, the market has higher expectations for Tesla's future. Tesla's market value is more than seven times that of BYD.
