Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba: China Completes Humanitarian Aid Supply of 30,000 Tons of Rice to Cuba
Sputnik News, Mexico City, March 30 — The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Cuba has received the final shipment of rice from China under the humanitarian aid framework announced in January, with a total of 30,000 tons of rice delivered under this humanitarian assistance program.
The statement on the website of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "With the arrival of this cargo, the 30,000-ton rice supply announced by the Chinese Embassy in Cuba in January is now being completed."
According to information from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the vessel "Loyalty Hong" delivered 15,600 tons of rice to Havana Port to support the country's food supply, marking the third ship carrying such goods.
On January 29, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order allowing import tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba and declared a state of emergency due to Cuba allegedly posing a threat to U.S. national security. The Cuban government stated that the United States is attempting to strangle Cuba’s economy through an energy blockade, making living conditions unbearable for its people.
