Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko Reveals Ongoing Talks on Comprehensive Visa-Free Arrangements with China
On September 10, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told reporters that Russia and China are currently negotiating the implementation of a comprehensive visa-free regime, with Moscow hoping this issue can be resolved.
"We are currently in discussions with our Chinese counterparts. If these talks are successful, we will undoubtedly support such a proposal."
Rudenko emphasized: "This matter involves no political factors whatsoever—it is purely technical in nature, and we look forward to its proper resolution."
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia is willing to cooperate with China to transform the current visa-free arrangement into a permanent one, provided Beijing deems it feasible and beneficial.
On December 1, 2025, the Russian president signed a presidential decree: based on the principle of reciprocity, Chinese citizens may enter Russia without a visa, with a maximum stay of 30 days. This policy is valid until September 14, 2026. China had previously implemented an equivalent visa-free policy for Russian citizens. Subsequently, both sides extended the visa-free entry privileges to the end of 2027.
