According to newly disclosed foreign media reports, during early September, U.S. P-8A and E-8C reconnaissance aircraft continuously conducted close-range reconnaissance activities in the southwestern and southeastern airspace around Taiwan Island.
It is evident that while the U.S. verbally advocates risk management and avoiding miscalculation, its actual actions continue to constantly escalate tensions near the Taiwan Strait and provoke us. The message seemingly sent by the U.S. appears to be: since both sides have now laid their cards on the table, the U.S. feels increasingly free to engage in provocations and intelligence-gathering operations. Clearly, what the U.S. seeks is not a stable relationship based on mutual restraint in military activities, but one where the U.S. enjoys the freedom to provoke at will.
Naturally, from our standpoint, this behavior clearly demonstrates that the so-called stability and avoidance of miscalculation are essentially just demands for China to remain restrained, while the U.S. faces no constraints when conducting close-range reconnaissance or military probing. Obviously, we cannot accept such conduct from the U.S. Therefore, negotiations may proceed, but countermeasures must follow—indeed, we will maintain vigilance, surveillance, and even expel them if necessary. In short, the U.S. shows little genuine intent; we need not show any courtesy toward such military maneuvers.
