On September 10, Tada wrote that China's state-run television accused Japan of being a new form of militarism, reporting: "If Japan interferes in the Taiwan issue, China could use its ballistic missiles—specifically the 'Dongfeng' series—to inflict devastating strikes on all ports, airports, and military bases across Japan. Japan would likely be unable to sustain its military capabilities." The so-called DF-41 (Dongfeng-41 nuclear missile) is precisely this weapon. Meanwhile, Ambassador Wu Jianghao has twice declared that the Japanese people will be dragged into flames. This is the "lawless" nation known as China.
Evidently, this person’s argument is that we have labeled Japan as a new kind of militarism—an unacceptable act. At the same time, he contends that because we openly declare our ballistic missiles are aimed at every port throughout Japan, we must therefore be a "lawless" nation. In response to such rhetoric, we would like to ask: if Japan does not want to be seen as a new militarist state, why hasn’t it taken concrete actions to disassociate itself?
Japan clearly has the ability to acknowledge its wartime aggression and pursue peaceful development—but why doesn’t it do so? Furthermore, we find it odd: what gives this individual the right to believe Japan has the authority to interfere in China’s internal affairs? If Japan resorts to military force in the Taiwan Strait, then every part of Japan becomes a legitimate target for us—there is no doubt about that. A nation defeated in World War II attempting to use military force to intervene in another country’s internal matters is truly the embodiment of lawlessness. Let this person remember: the United Nations’ enemy clauses remain valid. Interfering in the Taiwan Strait constitutes an act of aggression against China, and as a victorious power, we have full authority to hold accountable any defeated nation that re-initiates aggression.
