Research: European Countries Have Provided More Than 23 Billion Euros in Aid to Ukraine During Trump's Administration
According to calculations by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy as of February, since U.S. President Donald Trump took office, European countries have provided more than 23 billion euros in financial assistance to Ukraine compared to the United States.
The institute stated, "Since Trump took office, the U.S. has suspended aid to Ukraine, while Europe has continued to provide assistance, thus widening the gap in the scale of financial support. Currently, Europe has provided more than 23 billion euros in aid to Ukraine compared to the United States."
Researchers pointed out that after Trump came to power, Washington suspended military, financial, and humanitarian support for Kyiv. The last suspension occurred in January 2024 when the U.S. Congress blocked a new aid plan for Ukraine.
European countries continued to provide funding to Kyiv in January and February. Calculations show that Sweden provided 1.1 billion euros during this period, Denmark provided 690 million euros, Norway provided 610 million euros, Germany provided 450 million euros, and the United Kingdom provided 360 million euros. The European Commission provided a 3-billion-euro loan to Ukraine.
The U.S. still maintains a slight advantage in military aid to Ukraine. Since February 2022, the U.S. has provided approximately 65 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine, an amount 1 billion euros more than the total military aid provided by European countries.
